Scalable Projects
P34B unified project portfolio in edison365, replacing siloed tools with a single, structured platform built for growth, consistency, and operational resilience.
Portfolio Visibility
Real-time reporting and having a single source of truth gave P34B clearer oversight of projects for faster delivery, reduced admin, and stronger delivery.
Based in the United Kingdom, P34B are a genuine project consultancy supporting people and businesses with project delivery, developing internal capability, and building confidence across the PPM lifecycle.
We caught up with Neil Horner, the Director of P34B with over 27 years of multi-sector experience in project management, change management, and capability development, and Christopher Peel, Digital Projects Lead at P34B, who oversaw the implementation and configuration of the edison365 platform within P34B.
Focused on practical delivery over theory, they work alongside teams to improve their project, program, and portfolio performance while supporting the development of the people behind the work.
P34B are built on real-world project experience, evolving a unique model. They practice exactly what they preach; constantly refining how they manage their own projects with the same consistency and improvements they help their customers achieve!
P34B are committed to keeping Project Management accessible and advocate the use of accessible platforms. With the retirement of Project Online, P34B took the opportunity to assess the market and move away from their self-developed Planner, PowerApps & BI integrated system, and adopt a fully integrated, tailored and professionally configured PPM toolset. With edison365, P34B configured the platform to bring together project management best practice and their business needs, thus improving consistency, ensuring operational efficiency and enabling next level portfolio management.

Challenges
Before adopting edison365, P34B relied on a combination of Microsoft Project, Power BI reporting, and custom-built applications to manage their portfolio.
Despite the flexibility of this approach, it also came with the complexity and reliance on specialist knowledge to maintain their internal systems and a need to training and support users extensively prior to use.
And like many organizations, as their operations grew, P34B found themselves needing a much more scalable way to manage projects and support people with minimal dependency on technical expertise, training and end user support.
Some of the challenges P34B faced before edison365:
- Project data and user inconsistency across project systems.
- Complexity of training new team members on existing systems.
- Difficulty limiting flow and scalability for growth.
- Risks resulting from specific, individualised, expertise.
- Almost impossible to replicate our approach in client organisations.
“It became a bit like a ball of string, it works when you know how to make it work, but it would be very difficult for another business to repeat.”
Solution
P34B found edison365 presented the potential for structure, scalability and replicability to meet with the needs of a growing project portfolio.
This single toolset, easy to use, reliable and supported, provided one environment that could support the full project lifecycle, whilst being configured to meet with the P34B operating model.
During implementation, P34B configured their enhanced ecosystem on three fundamentals: consistency, configurability, and continuous improvement. Their key focus areas included:
- Managing project within one seamless platform.
- Integrating Power BI reporting for insightful data.
- Configuring templates that reflect their project governance framework.
- Creating a single, connected source of truth across their portfolio.
One of the biggest advantages is edison365’s flexibility as their business continues to evolve, emphasized by Neil’s comment:
“What I like is that while it’s easy to use, it’s also configurable. That’s really important when you’re building a business and your requirements change over time.”
Working Together
A Collaborative Relationship for PPM Success 🤝
For P34B, implementing edison365 wasn’t just about adopting a new platform, but establishing a sustainable partnership; “edison365 enables us to focus on what we do, which is supporting people and businesses, whilst being supported by an external team, who too are continually advancing, ensuring operational resilience.”
“We’ve been supported through the implementation phase by Jack, who’s been outstanding… but his appetite to really help us help ourselves has been really well received.”
The responsiveness of the edison365 team, along with hands-on technical support, ensured P34B’s rollout was aligned to their long-term vision.
“One of the benefits for me is feeling like we’ve got someone to talk to.”
The level of support P34B received allowed them to evolve their use of the platform with confidence, knowing they have both the technology and the team behind them to support growth.
Results
Since implementation, P34B has been able to house all current and legacy projects in one platform, meaning the team benefits from clearer oversight, reduced administrative tasks, and better decision-making through real-time reporting.
A Single Source of Truth
Every project P34B manages now lives in one place, vastly improving visibility across their entire portfolio moving forward. “Not only can we see what is being done, we can offer support and act where things are not being done as we require.”
Improved Consistency
Standardized templates mean every project follows the same structure, making performance much easier to compare and improve over time. This consistency has supported P34B in securing ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations.
Reduced Reporting Overhead
Automated reporting allows leadership at P34B to focus on supporting delivery instead of chasing updates at every stage of progress. Neil describes the improvements to reporting, explaining:
“I get automatic reports several times a week and can see where support is needed straight away. It means I can spend more time talking to people instead of chasing information.”
Stronger Operational Resilience
There is no longer the dependence on bespoke, complex systems and specialist knowledge, P34B has invested in developing a repeatable and sustainable method, with a tool that is easier to introduce to new team members.
Support for Quality Standards
edison365 played a key role in supporting their successful ISO 9001 accreditation, reinforcing consistency and continuous improvement practices. Though continuous learning and improvement have unlocked and enable continuous improvement across the portfolio. This is both exciting and reassuring for P34B directors and customers alike.
With the foundations now in place P34B are focused on continuing to refine and improve their internal use of edison365 while expanding how they support people and businesses in the delivery of their projects with greater capabilities.
As P34B continues to grow, their goal remains to help more people and businesses build the confidence, structure, and capability needed to successfully own their projects and optimise their professional portfolio.
